How I Plan Our Dubai Weekends Without Losing My Mind (My Secret? Kidzapp)

If you follow this blog, you know I have three kids under 10, a husband who works long hours, and a deep personal vendetta against wasted weekends. Dubai is full of things to do — in theory. In practice, finding them has always felt like navigating a jungle without a map.

I've talked before about our global Village routine, our annual Kidzania pilgrimage, and our emergency Cheeky Monkeys afternoons when everything else falls through. But what I haven't shared is the tool that quietly started organizing all of it for me.

Enter: Kidzapp

I was introduced to it by another mum at my daughter's school, who mentioned it so casually I almost missed it. "Oh just use Kidzapp, it has everything." She was right.

What Makes It Different

I've tried so many "kids activity" websites for the UAE and they all have the same problem: they're either outdated, incomplete, or just giant lists with no useful filters. Kidzapp is actually built for how parents think.

You open it, tell it you have a 4-year-old and a 7-year-old, set your city (Dubai for us, occasionally Abu Dhabi), pick a vibe — indoor? outdoor? educational? pure chaos? — and it shows you real, current options with prices and booking info.

The events section is particularly good. I found a weekend science fair for kids, a Diwali craft workshop, and — my personal favorite — a "muddy messy play" session for toddlers that my youngest still asks about.

Birthday Planning (The Real MVP Feature)

Last month I planned my son's 7th birthday entirely through Kidzapp. Compared packages at Legoland, IMG Worlds, and a smaller indoor adventure zone I hadn't heard of before. Ended up going with the smaller venue — half the price, more personalised, and my son declared it "the best birthday ever" which is all any of us really want.

The Kidzapp Go Pass — Worth It?

They have a subscription product called Kidzapp Go that gives discounts across partner venues. For families who go out regularly (and in Dubai, that's basically everyone), it pays for itself pretty quickly. I've been using it for two months and it's already saved us comfortably more than it cost.

My Weekend Planning Routine Now

  • Thursday evening: open Kidzapp, check "What's On" and "Trending"
  • Pick 2 options — one as main plan, one as backup
  • Book in advance if needed (some workshops fill up fast)
  • Enjoy Saturday without the frantic Googling

Sounds simple because it is. Kidzapp didn't change our weekends dramatically — it just removed the friction that was making them stressful.

If you're a parent in the UAE and you haven't bookmarked it yet, go do that now. You can thank me later (or thank the mum at school who told me about it — she knows who she is).
